WHEN DID YOU JOIN/YEARS OF SERVICE?
- February 2018, so 2 years of service.
HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT/GET INTO THE 501st LEGION?
- When I was in the States around 1997-98, I first heard about and saw people dressing up in Star Wars costumes. But it wasn‘t until later I really got to hear about the Legion. I heard about the Icelandic Outpost in around 2015. I was on the sideline for about 3 years up until I had a ruptured brain aneurysm and almost went over to the lands of eternal summers. On my hospital bed after I woke up I decided to let some of my dreams come true and being a die hard Star Wars nerd, being a Legionaire was one of those dreams, so I bought myself a Gunner costume.
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU:(AGE, MARRIED, KIDS, LOCATION, JOB ETC)?
- I‘m going to be 44 in August, I‘m married to Svandís, she is preparing to join the 501st herself with a Shadow Guard costume. We have 2 kids Ólafur and Ylfa and they troop with us sometimes as Jawas. I aslo have on older daughter from a previous relationship her name is Birna. We live in Hafnarfjörður. I‘m a graphic designer by trade but I work in marketing for a local newspaper. And I‘m heathen (A member of the Icelandic Ásatrú).
ANY OTHER FUN FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF?
- I studied both Graphic Design and Illustration in Boston and finished my BA in
Graphic Design in Florence Italy. I love cooking and photography.
HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU SAW YOUR VERY FIRST SW MOVIE AND WHAT WAS IT?
- I think I was around 6 years old, it was in my old hometown‘s tiny movie theater which only had around 50 seats. I went with my uncle and we saw Empire Strikes Back and I‘ve been a hardcore SW fan ever since.
YOUR FAVORITE SW MOVIE?
- Empire Strikes Back of course, but Rogue One is in clear second place.
WHAT PLANET IN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT?
- Naboo is a favorite, but being an Imperial, the Death Star is a must. But being a Snowtrooper I would most likely be postitioned on Orto Plutonia
ARE YOU ASHAMED OR PROUD OF HOW MUCH MONEY YOU'VE SPENT ON STAR WARS TOYS?
- I could never be ashamed. I love my collection, which includes a ton of G.I. Joes also.
WHAT COSTUMES HAVE YOU HAD APPROVED (INCLUDING REBEL LEGION COSTUMES)?
- A Snowtrooper Commander(TS), Imperial Gunner(IG), Imperial Navy trooper(IN) and Tie Reserve(TI).
WHAT'S YOUR NEXT COSTUME/PROJECT?
- Either a Line Officer Army Operations Colonel or Puko Naga a Kajain‘sa‘Nikto guard of Jabba from the Clone Wars.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE NOT OWNED COSTUME/WHICH ONE ARE YOU MOST DRAWN TO?
- Blue Senate Guard, Clone Commander Bacara, Sith Fleet Technician or a cool Mandalorian.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROOP MEMORY AND WHY?
- When we had our first Con here in Iceland, named Midgard and we had a group of German friends coming over.
WHICH IS YOUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ALIEN/RACE IN STAR WARS?
- Niktos
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STAR WARS VEHICLE?
- Always been a fan of shuttle Tydirium and the Naboo Starfighter(The Yellow one).
ARE YOU MORE OF A BLASTER PERSON OR DO YOU FAVORITE LIGHTSABERS?
- I‘m a blaster guy, I would love to own a lightsaber though....
WHO'S YOUR FAVORITE BAD GUY (DOESN'T NEED TO BE FROM STAR WARS)?
- Palpatine is my all-time favorite but I love Crowley from Supernatural also a lot.
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO'S THINKING ABOUT JOINING?
- Check us out first and foremost, talk to the members, choose your costume wisely.
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR NEW MEMBERS?
- Be sure if you have a large head like I do, that you can get a helmet that fits. Also getting boots or shoes that fit perfectly is a must. Shoes are the most fundamental things to have right when you start trooping.
ARE YOU INTO ANY OTHER FANDOMS?
- I love Supernatural, LOTR and G.I. Joe.....and I would love to have either a Viper costume or my all time favorite Cobra trooper the Crimson Guard.
